#RomanceQuotesMonday32

Another free gift wrapped as a new day. Hello and welcome to Romance Quotes Monday.

To ignite your relationship into a lovely mood this week, I have selected three love quotes  from Mills & Boon Desire 2 -in - 1 that touched my heart.
Book Title: Thirty-Day Affair
Author: Maureen Child.
Genre: Contemporary romance
ISBN: 978-0263858945
For the first time in years, I finished reading this novel (paperback) in 2days. I couldn't put it down. My kindle is down and out, so I reverted to the paperback in my closet. Lol! I enjoyed holding a book in my hands.

The quotes are from the grumpy lips of gorgeous Nathan Barrister to the lovely Keira Sanders. I hope you love the quotes as much as I do.

RomQuote #1

"But the truth is, nothing is the same for me anymore, Keira. You changed everything, I love you."

RomQuote #2

"I need you, Keira. Can't imagine my life without you in it. We'll live here on the mountain if you want. Build our own place however you want it..."

RomQuote #3

"I need you to have one (engagement ring), the biggest damn diamond we can find. No, wait. Not one. Two diamonds. Or three or four. We'll look."

#Brides From #Africa #SudaneseBride 7 #NorthAfrica

Here is another great week on Brides From Africa.

On today's platform, we have brides from Sudan in North Africa.

The bride's hands and feet are decorated with hand drawn henna to give her a very special look.

The Suanese Sari indicates a woman is married, not the wedding ring.

When the contract, termed agid is signed, someone will fire rifle shots in the air to announce to the women that the wedding contract has been signed.

Al Subhia involves the bride dancing to dallooka songs and changing into different clothes to entertain the party the bride's mother organizes for all the women in the family and for the bride's friends.

Jirtig is the final ritual. The bride wears a red toub and sits with her husband on a beautifully decorated red and gold sheet, called maliyat aljirtig.

The bride is given a cup of milk as a sign of love, peace and hope for a clean and pure life together - a life as pure as milk.

Photos are from Bitalsudan
The bride and groom are blessed with perfume to ward of evil eye from befalling the lovebirds.

We are getting married in Kiss My Lips #MWTease10 #Romance

Welcome to another round of sexy MidWeek Tease hosted by Sandra Bunino.

Every Wednesday on MidWeek Tease, writers and authors share a bit from their published work or work-in-progress.

I'm sharing from Kiss My Lips (A sequel to Stolen Valentine Kiss) - My W-I-P. The joyous task of editing has just started. I can't get Lorna and Logan out of my head.

Previously, you saw Logan shed a tear or two after Lorna had a run in with her dad.

In this week's scene, Lorna and Logan have a big announcement to make. But her father has other plans.

Enjoy The Teaser!

KISS MY LIPS - Teaser
(Sequel to Stolen Valentine Kiss)

"Behave yourself, Logan!" The reprimand sounded more like a sexy chant. His arms lingered on Lorna's belly, pulling her back into his arms from behind and nuzzling her neck.

A tremor ran down Lorna's spine.

Once they lifted their heads, their eyes met the inquiring gaze of her father. Aunt Nneka stood beside him. Lorna tried to wriggle free but Logan locked his arms around her waist.

"You're not going anywhere," he murmured in her ear.

Another shiver rocked her body. She went still in his arms. With discreet movement, she tried to pry his hands from her curves.

"For goodness sake, I need to act serious in front of my parents."

But Logan's fingers pinched hers and she sucked in air.

"Tell them," he drawled an impish grin on his face.

Not like this, she wanted to yell, wrapped in your arms with both of them staring at us as if we are on a romcom movie.

The look of expectation on their audience faces unnerved her. She lost her tongue for a brief second.

"Ouch!" Lorna blurted, glaring at her fiancé. He had just pinched her backside. Why does Logan keep doing that?

"Okay, we have an announcement to make," she eventually mouthed, a naughty grin splashed on her face.

Her aunt leaned on the polished, wooden kitchen counter, her eyes widening and her dad stared ahead.

Logan's fingers drifted around her ribs and she swallowed.

"Logan and I are getting married next month. We don't want to wait till December."  There, she had said it.

Her father gasped!

Aunt Nneka danced.

Her dad glared at his sister. "Next month? That's not feasible!" He barked through clenched teeth.

Logan's arms on her hips stiffened, nearly snapping her waist in two.

#Brides From #Africa #ZuluBride 6 #SouthAfrica

This is Brides From Africa, where I bring you beautiful and diverse traditionally married brides from across Africa.

This week, we're making a stop in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. The Zulu people speak IsiZulu, the most widely spoken language in South Africa.

Photo is courtesy of Nairaland.com
A Zulu bride's most impressive adornment is her beautiful and sturdy hat called Isicholos. The hat is made by an impressive weaving of grass and palm fronds.
Photos are courtesy of SouthAfrica.net
Among the Zulus, the bride goes and gets her groom. Also, beaded jewelry is the language of love in Zulu weddings.
Brides-to-be make two sets of bead necklaces in matching colors - one for herself and one for her groom-to-be. Their matching color-coded necklaces and bracelets shows everyone they are an item.
Photos are courtesy of Blushingmakoti
The bride will also carry a miniature knife, an assagai, pointed up to symbolize her virginity. After the marriage is consummated, the knife will be pointed down.

At some point during the during the ceremony the bride does a dance of her own during which she kicks her leg high in order to show her mother that she is a virgin.

In Zulu culture, a group of young virgins and young males perform a wedding ceremonial dance. The dance shows the beauty of African rhythms.

And, the maidens do not cover their breasts when wearing traditional outfits, but they cover the lower part of their bodies with short beaded skirts.
After marriage, the Zulu women do cover their breast to indicate that they are not free for other men's attention.

#AuthorInterview with @VickiBatman #NewRelease of Temporarily Employed

I have the sassy writer of sexy and funny fiction, Vicki Batman on Flirty & Feisty Romance Blog.

Vicki gets up and personal in this short interview and I'm sure you will enjoy it as much as I did.

She has also shared an excerpt from her new release, Temporarily Employed.

VICKI BATMAN's AUTHOR INTERVIEW

Vicki, tell us a bit about your family, background and your location

This is so funny because I am a proud Texan. My family goes way back to the Texas Revolution.

After I graduated, I'd meet people who would say, "You are a native?" Seems my town was very popular to move to back then and lots of young people did. They acted amazed when meeting a real Texan. I thought we were everywhere.

How did you meet your husband, Vicki? Is there anything noteworthy about your meeting? And  share with us what draws you to him?

I call my hubby Handsome. We met through a friend; however, it took a long while before actually dating. We went to a movie and I thought no big deal which was fine. I'd had my bad share of dating and was in no hurry. I didn't even look at this movie thing as anything extraordinary. Just doing a friend a favor.

Six weeks later, he calls the afternoon of my roomie's birthday party. Being nice, I invited him over. He showed in a sweater. Not a problem in December, but in July???? My friends and family asked about him and said on the side, I should date him. I kept saying, "He's Charlie's friend." But Handsome was persistent and kept calling and calling and lavished attention. Pretty soon... LOL, a year and a half later, we married.

Handsome is smart, very independent. Made and paid his own way through college and with hard work, succeeded in various jobs. He started his own financial services business and is well-known throughout the U. S.

I make him laugh.

Okay, what is the story behind your book and how do you decide your book cover?

A friend knew I had an urge to write, but hesitated because I didn't want to do it badly. One day, we went on a girls' trip, and she began posing silly questions for us to answer. Like: Pick one -Tom Jones or Engelbert Humperdink.

Then she said, "Write the opening paragraph of a book using the word window." My heart sunk. I had nothing. So she encouraged me to email something later. Two days after the trip, I sat down at the computer and ended up with eight chapters. I showed them to my friend and she returned the pages to me with this, "Keep going." I did.

Vicki, have you ever experienced writer’s block and how did you tackle it?

Not really. I do get stuck. But I find when I am in the midst of a project, it occupies my mind. And through those thoughts, something magically appears. I write notes and stick that in. The insert may not be perfect, but through revising and editing, the work will flourish.

What books are on your shelf at home and who are your favourite authors?

I cut my teeth on mysteries: The Bobbsey Twins, Nancy Drew, Trixie Belden---oops, that ages me. LOL. At thirteen, I read Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier, and my reading life jumped to adult works. I LOVED Dick Francis.

Sadly, he is gone. P. D. James, Janet Evanovich, Elizabeth George, Sue Grafton, Julie Spencer-Fleming. Old romances by Emilie Loring, Georgette Heyer (funnier than Jane Austen), and Mary Stewart. The Shopaholic series. And I read lots of other things, too.

What form of entertainment do you enjoy most and why, Vicki?

Movies. Handsome and I go to a movie almost every Saturday. I watch most kinds except for dystopian, and horror. We like to get away and do this.

And If you had one wish, what would it be?

The old song... "Let there be peace on earth."

So what would you say you’re bad at?

Sewing. Mostly because my mom is a perfectionist and when teaching me, she'd make me rip out and redo and rip out and redo. I do pretty good needlepoint and embroidery. I just finished stitching a handbag!

Finally share what the most embarrassing thing you’ve done is.

Miss Oak Lawn Moped. Age 24, doing a friend a favor. Oh, let's just say yikes.

BLURB

New job. New love. And murder. Desperate for cash to cover the basic necessities,
Hattie Cooks takes a temporary job at Buy Rite insurance company where she uncovers an embezzling scam tied to the death of a former employee--the very one she replaced.

Enjoy the SNIPPET

“Yuck.”

Pretty much covered the whole freakin’ day.

A blinding red-white, red-white strobe, reflected in my brand new Wrangler’s rearview mirror, seized my attention. The police. I tossed my hands skyward, ready to surrender. I shouldn’t have been too surprised. Like I'd commented this a.m. to my roommate, Jenny, “Today, anything’s possible.”

My Bad Day checklist included:

- Crappy job interview, one which might have provided desperately needed      income.

- Wore gut-busting panty hose on a hot day which had now worked past my    waist           and strangled my diaphragm.

- A barely blowing air conditioner indicated something had malfunctioned in     my new, fun car.

I stole another glance in the mirror, and with great reluctance, flipped the right turn indicator. My vehicle coasted to a stop on the shoulder of Boston Avenue in my hometown of Sommerville, a nice suburb located between two large cities. Four lanes of cars and trucks zipped by as I sat there where every single one of my family, friends, friends’ friends, and their friends—including Rat Fink Suzanne—would see a police vehicle positioned right behind mine. Gleefully, drivers would chant the “Ha-ha, got you, not me” ditty.

How embarrassing.

After killing the engine, I flopped back in the seat. Shooting the morons the finger was an idea. Nah. I'm too exhausted to care.

A litany of:  "No, not hiring." "Just filled the position." "You're over qualified." "You're under qualified…" tornadoed through my head. Coupled with the intense job search through various outlets like the internet and completing numerous online employment applications, no wonder my body had been depleted of all life force.

Not even a breeze blew to take the edge off the unbearable summertime heat. Tangled wild trees and dry scrubby bushes banked the roadside. The grass had taken on a scorched look. Rolling down the driver’s window, I surveyed my surroundings. Nothing great. Nothing new.

I stole a glance in the side mirror at the policeman who strode purposefully along the shoulder. The gravel crunched under his boots. He looked huge, probably because his uniform, which appeared to be bulked with a bullet-proof vest, made him resemble a buffed-up superhero in size. Exceedingly intimidating.

Sigh. When things went wrong, they were really wrong.

As I viewed him drawing closer, my heart pounded harder. Awkward circumstances usually brought out the worst in me like shyness, ineptness, and uh...more shyness, hang-ups I carried from childhood. Back in the dark ages, I’d deliberately steered clear of embarrassing situations by developing the best self-protection— avoidance. Over time, I’d adapted to embarrassment, but every now and then, some unusual situation would spring out, and like a stealthy cat, those old prickly feelings crept back inside me.

The policeman stopped by the driver’s side, his head slanted to better peer inside.

Up close and exceptionally personal, I saw his sunglasses with dark lenses which shielded his eyes.

Excerpt

Holly carried a tray holding freshly ground coffee. The plush carpeted corridor absorbed the tension in her legs as she headed to Max Lazzari’s office. Dragging air deep into her lungs, she inhaled the aroma of coffee, allowing it to invigorate her senses.

Must be professional, she reminded her lust-filled brain, though her body’s reactions were refusing to comply.

Balancing the tray on one of her not quite controlled arms, Holly sucked in a breath before knocking on the door.

“Come in.” His deep tone made her tray wobble. She watched with wide eyes as the coffee almost sloshed over the rim of the cup, then watched how the ripples of liquid aftershock mirrored the way her insides felt.

Complete turmoil.

She opened the door and looked at the man with his dark head dipped to the computer screen. “Your coffee, Mr. Lazzari.” The door fell closed behind her. Her brow furrowed when she spotted the full coffee pot plugged into the machine behind him.

His keen green eyes, hooded beneath long lashes, were lifted up at her.

She carried the tray over to set it on the desk. “I believe you wanted to speak to me about an upcoming function. Which function would that be?”

He rose, startling her. Her shaky fingers still gripped the tray, but now her hold whitened her knuckles. The cup rattled.

“This one,” his husky voice said. With a grin he took her chin in his hand and captured her mouth with his. He dropped his hand, bracing both of them on the desk to kiss her more thoroughly, more deeply.

Holly allowed arousal to cascade through her, absorbing the softness and skill of his lips as he teased and swept, offering her the taste she’d been craving. She lifted her hand to thread her fingers through the dark hair at his nape.

God, she’d been waiting for this.

Arching closer, her thighs dug hard into the desk edge. She tilted her head, inviting him deeper. If her darned pencil skirt wasn’t so tight she’d have crawled over the desk by now. She heard a soft groan. Hers.

“Missed me?” Max chuckled as he gave her his now
familiar lopsided grin. The one she held in her memory to help her through the
weeks.

“I did,” she confirmed, frowning as she mourned the loss of his lips. “There was an extra day in this month.”

She rested her palms over his jaw, covering the dimples in his tanned cheeks. She liked the feel of his smooth, clean shaven skin, the warmth against her needy hands.

“But you broke the rules, Mr. Lazzari. Absolutely no touching at work, remember?”

Author Bio

Usually found with a pen in my hand, or my head in a book, I’m a contemporary romance author who also thinks fangs and wings are a very attractive accessory.

A devourer of books from an early age, imagination was my best discovery. I
spent much of my childhood stepping into wardrobes, searching for that magical
snowy world where conversing with animals would be expected. When I wasn’t
searching for those worlds, I wrote about them instead. My first step into the
world of romance was when I stole sneak peeks into my nana’s books. I’m still
in that world and I refuse to leave.

I live in Staffordshire, UK, with my husband and three wonderful children.
An avid reader and writer of romance, I strongly believe that words make the
world go around. I like nothing more than to be swept away by the words on a
page. I hope I can sweep you away too.

#RomanceQuotesMonday30

A sweet and romantic Monday to you, My weekend was relaxed and leisurely.

On Romance Quotes today, I have selected four heart-warming romance quotes to help you appreciate the love of your life. Cherish them as I do.

RomQuote #1

Movie: Love Actually (2003)

“But for now, let me say — without hope or agenda, just because it’s Christmas and at Christmas you tell the truth — to me, you are perfect. And my wasted heart will love you. Until you look like this [picture of a mummy]. Merry Christmas.”

—Mark (Andrew Lincoln) to Juliet (Keira Knightley)
RomQuote #2

Movie: Nothinghill (1999)

"Don't forget I'm just a girl, standing in front of a boy, asking him to love her."

Anna (Julia Roberts) to William (Hugh Grant).

More quotes are available @ Moviequotes.com

RomQuote #3

Movie: Blue Valentine (2010)

Dean said

"I feel like men are more romantic than women. When we get married we marry,
like, one girl, 'cause we're resistant the whole way until we meet one girl and we think I'd be an idiot if I didn't marry this girl she's so great. But it seems like girls get to a place where they just kinda pick the best option;'Oh he's got a good job.' I mean they spend their whole life looking for Prince Charming and then they marry the guy who's got a good job and is gonna stick around."

RomQuote #4

Movie: Meet Joe Black (1998)

William Parrish said

"Love is passion, obsession, someone you can't live without. I say, fall head over heels. Find someone you can love like crazy and who will love you the same way
back. How do you find him? Well, you forget your head, and you listen to your heart. And I'm not hearing any heart. Cause the truth is, honey, there's no sense living your life without this. To make the journey and not fall deeply in love, well, you haven't lived a life at all. But you have to try, cause if you haven't tried, you haven't lived."
